Poll loss linked to youth discontent with Gehlot govt, says ABVP’s National Gen Sec

NEW DELHI: With the Lok Sabha elections a few months away, the student wing of RSS- Akhil Bharatiya Vidya Parishad (ABVP) looks all charged up to advocate BJP’s cause of abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir and the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya to different parts of the country.

At the 69th National Conference of ABVP, the youth from across the lengths and breadths of India raised slogans of ‘Kashmir se Kanyakumari, desh ki matti sabse pyari’ (Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the country’s soil is the dearest), ‘Jai Shree Ram’ (hail Lord Rama) and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ (all hail mother India) among others.

On the success of BJP in three states- Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, The New Indian spoke to Yagywalkya Shukla, the national general secretary of ABVP, who talked about youth’s anger against the Ashok Gehlot-led government in Rajasthan.

He mentioned, “The shift in government within a state signifies the youth’s discontent with the shortcomings of those in authority. Consider Rajasthan, for instance, where there were a staggering 38,000 reported rape cases.

“In a state where accusations of rape were directed at the nephew of a Congress minister and where charges were filed against the son of an MLA, the condition of women became a matter of concern. However, the scenario is undergoing a transformation with the BJP assuming governance.”

Remembering the student wing’s contribution in shaping youth of the country into able and responsible citizens, he said, “The student organisation helps shape the youth in the campuses of the country to take India to new heights.”

The convention reverberated with the chants of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ when Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his pride in doing the impossible. “Nobody thought that Ram Mandir would be built in Ayodhya but we did it.

“Our distinguished leader, back in 1990, vowed to only eat sweets once the Ram Janmabhoomi temple was constructed in Gujarat. Fast forward to January 22, and he will indeed savour the moment. Not limited to just the Ram Mandir, significant projects like the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Somnath temples are also taking shape.”

On being asked if ABVP would join the inauguration ceremony, Shukla said, “This was the struggle of 500 years. Ram is the symbol of this country. He is the hero of Bharat. Finally, we will get the renaissance of that symbol in Ayodhya finally.”
