NEW DELHI: A well-known poet, celebrated for sharing the stage with distinguished personalities like Dr. Kumar Vishwas and for her poetry advocating cultural values, has accused three individuals—including a political leader from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and a senior railway official—of brutally attacking, stripping, and filming her in a hotel room in Vasant Kunj, South Delhi.

The accused include RJD leader Abhinay Chaudhary and others. The alleged incident took place on January 12, yet authorities have not formally acted on the case.

Despite the severity of the allegations, Delhi Police have yet to register a First Information Report (FIR), leaving the victim without legal recourse.

According to the poet, while a medical examination was conducted, officers at the police station dismissed her complaint without registering an FIR.

“They took my car and valuables—my gold chain, ₹50,000 in cash, a gold ring, and my mobile phone were forcibly taken,” she alleged.

Even after appealing to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for South Delhi and other senior officials, she was unable to get her complaint officially recorded.

The poet further alleged that the accused are circulating assault videos—where she appears unclothed—to event organizers who had scheduled her performances.

“As a result, 25 of my shows have been canceled, and I am suffering from extreme mental distress. They are now blackmailing me, threatening to release the footage,” she stated.

Speaking to The New Indian, her lawyer, Advocate Shakti Narayan, disclosed that the railway official involved in the assault is posted in Moradabad.

“This railway officer, along with RJD leaders, forcibly entered my client’s hotel room on January 12. They stripped her and subjected her to brutal violence,” Narayan said.

He further revealed that they have now approached the court, seeking an order for the registration of an FIR. Narayan also claimed that the police have access to CCTV footage of the incident but are deliberately trying to suppress the case.

However, police officials have dismissed the accusations, claiming the matter stemmed from a domestic dispute between a married couple in the hotel.

The victim has strongly denied this version, asserting that it was a clear case of violence against a woman and demanding immediate legal action.
