PM Modi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in New York on Sunday

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in New York on Sunday.

In a post on X, PM Modi stated, “Met President Mahmoud Abbas in New York. Reiterated India’s support for the early restoration of peace and stability in the region.” He also highlighted the importance of strengthening the long-standing friendship between India and Palestine.

According to official sources, During the meeting, PM Modi expressed serious concern about the deteriorating security conditions in Gaza and the escalating humanitarian crisis.

He further reiterated India’s commitment to providing ongoing humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.

The Prime Minister also underscored India’s long-held position on the Israel-Palestine issue, advocating for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and a return to dialogue and diplomacy.

The leaders engaged in constructive discussions, focusing on India’s support for Palestine at the UN, as well as ongoing assistance in areas such as education, health, and capacity building. Both leaders expressed a commitment to further deepening bilateral relations.

PM Modi’s meeting with President Abbas follows his participation in the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware.
