PM Modi joins Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Ganga Aarti at Varanasi’s Dashashwamedh Ghat on Tuesday, marking his fifth visit to the iconic ritual site since taking office.

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, PM Modi arrived at the ghat following his address at a farmer’s convention in Mehndiganj earlier in the day. The ghat was adorned with approximately 10 quintals of floral garlands and illuminated with lamps, creating a majestic setting for the spiritual event.

During the ceremony, PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath engaged in Vedic rituals. PM Modi, known for his deep spiritual connection with the Ganga, expressed his reverence, stating, “Maa Ganga ne bulaya hai.”

The participation of both leaders was met with enthusiastic cheers from the gathered crowd, resonating with chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’. The aarti concluded with the soul-stirring sounds of conch shells, symbolising a harmonious blend of faith and cultural heritage.

Dashashwamedh Ghat holds profound significance in Hindu traditions, hosting daily Ganga Aarti ceremonies that attract pilgrims worldwide. PM Modi’s recurrent participation underscores his commitment to Varanasi’s spiritual legacy and cultural heritage.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi launched the 17th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme in Varanasi, releasing Rs 20,000 crore to benefit more than 9.26 crore farmers across the nation. This initiative aims to bolster agricultural infrastructure and support rural communities. PM Modi also distributed certificates to over 30,000 self-help groups trained as Krishi Sakhis, further empowering agricultural extension efforts.

The event, jointly organised by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and the Uttar Pradesh government, highlighted the administration’s focus on enhancing tourism and infrastructure in Varanasi. The presence of CM Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and state ministers underscored the significance of the occasion.
