SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a strong stand on Friday against the Congress-National Conference alliance after the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passed a resolution advocating the revival of Article 370. He described the move as part of a plot against the union territory.
Modi accused the Congress of seeking to revive Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, warning that this attempt would push the region back into turmoil. “Congress aims to restore violence in Jammu and Kashmir by reinstating Article 370, which will never happen,” Modi declared. “Who supports this restoration? Separatists, terrorists, and anti-national forces. Congress has now joined these ranks,” he asserted.
PM Modi highlighted how BJP legislators were expelled from the assembly for resisting the resolution. “Banners supporting Article 370 were flaunted in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. Congress and its allies passed this resolution for its return. Will the nation stand by this? Our BJP legislators protested firmly, yet they were forcefully removed. The country must understand the true motives of Congress and its allies,” Modi added.

PM Modi further insisted that the country would not accept the resolution. “As long as I’m here, Congress won’t be able to tamper with Kashmir. Only Ambedkar’s Constitution will govern the region. Article 370 won’t be revived,” he emphasized.
The Prime Minister’s comments referred to a resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly this week, calling for discussions on restoring special status to the union territory. All parties, including Congress, supported the motion, with only the BJP opposing it. Restoring Article 370 and Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood were the main promises in the National Conference’s election manifesto for the assembly polls.
Speaking in Nashik, PM Modi also charged Congress and its allies with attempting to discard Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir. “Two to three days ago, Congress and its allies created chaos in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to restore Article 370. They want to strip Dalits and Valmiki communities of their reservations. Congress, alongside its Maharashtra allies, is involved in this anti-constitutional conspiracy,” Modi said.

In Jharkhand’s Palamu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah joined the criticism, challenging Congress’s stance on Jammu and Kashmir. Directing his message to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Shah warned, “Kashmir is an inseparable part of India. Even your fourth-generation can’t bring back Article 370.”
