Kerala CM visits blast site; seeks unity in probe, harmony in state

    • Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reaches Zamra International Convention & Exhibition Centre on Monday

    KOCHI: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited the Zamra International Convention Centre in Kalamassery, Kerala, on Monday, where a series of coordinated blasts on Sunday claimed three lives and left more than 50 people injured.

    Accompanied by several CPM ministers and party officials, Vijayan extended his condolences to grieving families and inquired about the well-being of those receiving medical treatment at the site.

    In a social media post, Vijayan shared images of his visit, accompanied by Ministers K Rajan, Roshy Augustine, P Rajeev, Veena George, Hibi Eden MP, and CPM State Secretary MV Govindan. He wrote, “Visited the Zamra International Convention & Exhibition Centre at Kalamassery today to assess the situation after yesterday’s blast. Met with the grieving relatives of Kumari and Leona Paulus. Also, checked in on those receiving treatment at the medical college, ensuring they get necessary care.”

    Vijayan also mentioned that the investigation was “progressing efficiently.”

    In response to the tragic incident and the alleged attempts by certain groups to create division among different faiths, an all-party meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vijayan adopted a unanimous resolution on Monday. The resolution aimed to protect Kerala’s secular democratic values and prevent any attempts to cause societal disunity.

    Pinarayi Vijayan emphasised the need for unity and urged all stakeholders to refrain from unnecessary controversies during this sensitive time. He called for solidarity among the people of Kerala and their commitment to preserving the state’s secular fabric.

    The blasts that occurred during a Jehovah’s Witness prayer convention at Kalamassery in Ernakulam district on Sunday resulted in three casualties and 41 injuries. The incident has raised concerns about potential social tensions and the importance of maintaining unity and harmony in Kerala.

    As the investigation into the blasts unfolds and the state grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event, Vijayan’s visit and call for unity underscore the significance of upholding Kerala’s secular values in the face of adversity.
