Another case of an Indian passenger urinating on a fellow passenger has come to light after a 26-year-old student urinated on his fellow passenger on Saturday, March 4, night.

Delhi Police have taken custody of the student, who is studying in the US and is returning home after the New York-Delhi American Airlines flight landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport at around 10.12 pm on Saturday.

The accused student was identified as Arya Vohra, a resident of Defence Colony in New Delhi. “We have received a complaint of urination on a co-passenger from American Airlines against one person, Arya Vohra, who is a student in the USA and resident of Defence colony Delhi. We are taking necessary legal action,” DCP (IGI) Devesh Malha said.

The incident allegedly took place on flight number AA292, which took off from New York at 9.16 pm on Friday and landed after 14 hours and 26 minutes of flying at the Delhi airport at 10.12 pm on Saturday.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that he was under the influence of alcohol and that it happened unintentionally. “He says that he didn’t do it knowingly. He did it in his sleep and it fell on a fellow passenger, after which the victim complained to the flight staff. The airline took it seriously and informed Air Traffic Control at IGI Airport. ATC alerted CISF personnel, who handed over the accused passenger to Delhi Police,” said another police officer.

In a similar incident, a passenger from Mumbai allegedly urinated on an elderly female passenger on an IGI-bound Air India flight from New York in July 2022. The case, however, was registered in January 2023, after which accused Shankar Mishra was arrested from Bengaluru.

Mishra was booked under sections 354 (molestation), 354 (A), 509 (insulting a woman’s modesty), 510 (misconduct in public by a drunken person), 294 (obscene words) of the IPC and section 23 of the Aircraft Act at the IGI Airport police station.
