MUMBAI: Varsha Raut, the wife of arrested Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, on Saturday morning appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Patra Chawl scam case.
Varsha was summoned by the financial probe agency two days ago. She is being questioned about the money received in her bank account.
The ED also carried out searches at two more locations in connection with the case on Tuesday and got some documents regarding the scam.
The development comes two days after a court on Thursday sent Sanjay Raut to ED custody till August 8.
Sanjay Raut, who is also the spokesperson of the Shiv Sena, was arrested on July 31 and sent to ED custody till August 4 following the alleged money laundering probe involving the Patra Chawl land scam case.
Earlier, the ED had attached property worth Rs 9 crore related to Sanjay Raut’s ‘aide’ Pravin Raut and assets, worth around Rs 2 crore, belonging to Varsha.
The agency had filed a charge-sheet in a money laundering case against Pravin Raut.
