KOLKATA: In a big development in the ongoing Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation into the Bengal SSC Recruitment Scam, Arpita Mukherjee said that state industries minister Partha Chatterjee used to keep money at her home.

Mukherjee, a key aide of the Bengal minister, is in the spotlight after ED recovered more than ₹51 crores from her premises in Diamond City and Belghoria.

Mukherjee, who is in ED custody, apparently said that not only the Bengal minister but also his aides used to come and keep the money. “At times Partho himself used to come. I had no permission to go into that room where money was kept. I had no idea that the amount is so huge,” Mukherjee had said.

The officials are now verifying the authenticity of her statement.

Both Chatterjee and Mukherjee will likely be interrogated face-to-face in this close to ₹50 crore haul.
