NEW DELHI: In a recent update on the Parliament attack case, a total of seven individuals are now in police custody, with five of them arrested and two currently undergoing questioning. The investigation has taken a new turn as a team from the Special Cell is set to travel to Lucknow, where specialised shoes, equipped with concealed compartments, were crafted. The shoemaker is slated to face questioning by the police team.
Delhi Police has secured seven days of custody for four of the accused—Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan, Neelam Singh, and Amol Dhanraj Shinde. Lalit Jha is expected to be presented before the court later this afternoon. The other two individuals, Kailash and Mahesh, are currently detained.

According to sources, multiple teams from the Delhi Police Special Cell have been formed to transport the accused to various locations. One team is en route to Mysore, focusing on Manoranjan’s premises, while another is heading to Kolkata.
The New Indian has accessed the contents of the FIR, which illustrated that the sports shoes which the accused, Sagar Sharma, was wearing had a hole in the sole of the left-foot shoe. Moreover, the report highlighted that the sole’s thickness was increased by affixing an additional rubber sole at the bottom for support.
“The pair of sport shoes of Manoranjan D of SRY make dark greyish colour wherein, a cavity is found created by cutting the inside sole of left foot shoes. The inside sole of the right foot shoe was also found partly cut. The thickness of the sole of shoes was also found increased by affixing additional rubber sole at the bottom to support the cavity,” the FIR reads.
The third team is bound for Hisar, targeting Neelam’s location. Simultaneously, additional members of the cell will be deployed in Rajasthan to gather evidence. Rajasthan is where Lalit fled after the incident, destroyed his phone, and collaborated with Mahesh on further plans.

The FIR also highlighted that the accused were carrying two “partly torn” pamphlets, with one displaying “Jai Hind” in English, alongside an imprint of a fist. The second pamphlet, on the other hand, contained an English slogan on the Manipur issue. Both were kept in two separate plastic bags.
The police have stated that it was a deep-rooted sinister plot to create “drama at the Parliament”.
The dramatic events unfolded on December 13, the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament Attack day, when the accused gained entry into the Parliament using visitor passes. Subsequently, they staged protests both inside and outside the Parliament, chanting slogans and emitting coloured gas with smoke canisters.
Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan, from the visitors’ gallery, jumped down to approach MPs while spraying colour smoke. They were apprehended, subjected to physical harm, and then handed over to the police.
Meanwhile, Neelam, accompanied by Amol Dhanraj, was engaged in protesting outside the Parliament, also using colour canisters. The Delhi Police has filed a case under Section 120-B of the IPC, and sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act have been added to the FIR. The investigation continues as authorities dig deeper into the motives and network behind this audacious incident.
