Pakistani BAT attack on Indian Army at LoC in Kupwara

SRINAGAR: Four to five army personnel, including a Major rank officer, were gravely wounded and a Pakistani terrorist was killed in a gunfire exchange along the LoC in a Pakistani Border Action Team (BAT) attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara region on Saturday at dawn.

The Indian Army in an X post said, “There has been a gunfire exchange with unknown forces at a forward position in Kamkari, Macchal Sector on the border. One Pakistani individual was eliminated while two of our soldiers sustained injuries and have been evacuated. Operations are ongoing.”

Earlier, the Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt in Kupwara’s Keran region, eliminating two terrorists. On July 14, three terrorists were neutralized as security forces stopped another infiltration attempt in Keran.

This week, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed two encounters between terrorists and the security forces. On Wednesday, one soldier and a terrorist were killed in Kupwara.

Earlier in the week, an encounter in the Rajouri region resulted in the death of one terrorist and minor injuries to a soldier and a civilian.

Moreover, on July 16, four Indian Army personnel, including a Captain, were killed in a clash with terrorists in the Koti forests of the Doda region.
