NEW DELHI: The United Kingdom finally acknowledged what was being reported for months – that Pakistan is actively supporting London in sending weapons to Ukraine against Russia in the ongoing war when its army chief praised Rawalpindi for its anti-terror efforts while ignoring Pak’s track record of exporting terrorism.
In the past, The New Indian has reported how the Pakistan army was exporting heavy weaponry, including rockets produced by its state-run factory, to Ukraine through the UK, the US and Saudi Arabia – although it maintains neutrality in the Ukraine-Russia war.
During his visit to Rawalpindi – the headquarters of the Pakistan army, UK army chief of general staff (CGS) General Sir Patrick Nicholas Yardley Monrad Sanders on Wednesday “acknowledged the sacrifices and achievements of the Pakistan army in the fight against terrorism and efforts for bringing peace and stability in the region”.
The comment is being seen as an appreciation of the Pakistan army – which is the ultimate in-charge of the Islamic nation – for its continuous support to the UK’s efforts to covertly mobilise arms and ammunition for Ukraine from different countries.

Geopolitical experts have claimed that it was the West that orchestrated the ouster of Prime Minister Imran Khan from power for not toeing their line with regards to war, and see Pakistan army as an enabler.
In March, The New Indian reported that Pakistan was sending at least 44 T-80UD main battle tanks to Ukraine in exchange for financial assistance from Western countries. The tanks were bought from Ukraine in the last 1980s.
In April, The New Indian report revealed that Pakistan routed 60,000 155mm M107 artillery carriages via the US; 25,000 120mm Mortar Bomb HE, 20,000 122mm HE D30 RC and 130,000 rocket 122mm MBRL routed through the UK, and 30,000 40mm RPG7 HEAT ammo routed through Saudi Arabia to Ukraine.

Between February and March this year alone, Islamabad shipped 42,000 122 MM BM-21 multi barrel rocket launchers routing them through other countries to Ukraine.
Apart from being in the good books of Western countries, Pakistan has made millions of dollars by exporting war equipment to Ukraine. More than 80 per cent of the profit earned goes to Rawalpindi, documents show.
However, Ukrainian troops on the frontline have often complained that Pakistani weaponry is of “poor” quality.
