Paramjit Singh claims under pressure, Pakistan is getting rid of old Khalistani terrorists while supporting young terrorists
NEW DELHI: National Akali Dal president Paramjit Singh claims that the killing of senior Khalistani leader Paramjit Singh Panjwar was orchestrated by Pakistani security agencies to get rid of a ‘liability’ and in a bid to restore their image tarnished by accusations of supporting terror organisations.
“Khalistani leaders have now become a burden for Pakistan. The recent killing of Paramjit Singh Panjwar was an operation carried out by the Pakistani security agency to achieve two objectives, to get rid of liability and to clean the stained background,” Singh said.
Singh also said that Pakistan is under immense international pressure for supporting and harbouring senior Khalistani leaders.
“By providing safe haven to Khalistani elements such as Wadhawa Singh, Singh Ranjit, Neeta Singh, and Lakhbir Singh Rode, the Pakistan government has come under the international spotlight,” he said.
He added that Pakistan is employing a new strategy to retain extremists and avoid international scrutiny. “Pakistan is helping young Khalistani leaders like Rinda, who are allegedly working with Pakistani security agencies and smuggling drugs to India.”
Singh believes that Pakistan has devised a plan to eliminate the old guard of Khalistani groups and prop up new elements to carry out their anti-India operations.
He said, “Pakistan’s security agency has devised a plan to eliminate the old Khalistani leaders. The murder of Panjwar was the first such action, and similar actions will be taken in the future.”
Senior Khalistani leader, Paramjit Singh Panjwar, was shot dead in Lahore, Pakistan, on Saturday while on a morning walk, according to local police.
Panjwar was heading the Khalistan Commando Force-Panjwar group and had been designated a terrorist by India in 2020 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
