Viral videos show women protesters being groped, dragged and thrashed by Pakistani security forces across cities
Multiple distressing videos of Pakistani women being physically abused have surfaced on social media, revealing the horrifying mistreatment of women by the Islamic Republic’s security forces amid ongoing protests over the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The viral videos portray scenes of sexual and physical assault occurring at various locations across Pakistan.
“We, as citizens, are appalled by the treatment we have received from our own army and police officials. It is even more disheartening to witness fellow Pakistanis being treated like terrorists. They treating us like they would treat people from our enemy country India. This shocking reality shatters our trust in the system- a woman is heard saying in the video.”
In one particularly shocking video, a middle-aged woman is seen being brutally beaten and dragged by a police officer in Pakistan. The footage, shared by the official Twitter account of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), captures two women, one with a child and an infant, engaged in a physical altercation with the officer while the other attempts to protect her. “It is the hallmark of the Pak army. Now it is the turn of women in their own country,” says woman who was a victim of brutality, wishing to stay anonymous fearing crackdown on family while speaking to The New Indian correspondent.

Using the hashtag “#PakistanUnderSiege,” PTI’s Twitter handle pleaded with everyone to tag influencers and human rights activists, urging them to raise awareness about the escalating fascism in Pakistan. Posted on Twitter last night, the video has garnered significant attention on social media, prompting many users to call on the UN Human Rights to intervene. “Women are being beaten. Their clothes are torn. Dragged by their hair by this fascist government of Pakistan. These are horrifying scenes. The human rights of the people of Pakistan are being crushed with impunity,” commented women’s rights activist Alina Zehra.
Another disturbing video shows a group of policemen forcefully dragging a woman into a bedroom, subjecting her to manhandling and groping throughout the ordeal. The footage, recorded by another woman from outside the window, captures her distress while a police officer callously draws the curtains of the room.

In yet another video, security forces are seen pulling a woman in a wheelchair out of it, ruthlessly dragging her on the ground. Numerous other videos have also surfaced, with women alleging that they have been subjected to beatings and mistreatment. Some of these women display visible wounds sustained on different parts of their bodies.
Outraged Pakistanis have taken to social media platforms, with one user condemning the persecution and severe maltreatment of women by Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies. They called for immediate and forceful action while urging a strong condemnation of these acts, tagging the UN Human Rights for attention.

The violent clashes, which also saw attacks on Pakistan army facilities, have resulted in the loss of at least forty-seven lives and left nearly 300 people injured across Pakistan. To maintain law and order, the army has been deployed in the capital city of Islamabad, as well as in the provinces of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. Clashes continue in various parts of Pakistan as this report is being filed, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
