Yashasvi Jaiswal was caught on the stump mic saying to Australian batsman Sam Konstas in Hindi “Oye Kontas, shot nahi lag rahe.”
NEW DELHI: In a light-hearted moment during the ongoing fifth Test between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), young Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal was caught on the stump mic playfully addressing Australian batsman Sam Konstas: “Oye Kontas, shot nahi lag rahe.”
The Hindi phrase, translating to “Hey Kontas, you’re not hitting any shots,” added a humorous touch to the intense match.
This moment came after an earlier heated exchange involving Konstas on Day 1. The Australian opener had a fiery argument with India captain Jasprit Bumrah during the final over of the day.

Konstas, who has faced criticism for his strategy in that over, was seen engaging in a furious back-and-forth with Bumrah and other Indian teammates. The tension culminated dramatically when Usman Khawaja, Australia’s other opener, was caught on the last ball of the day, adding further intensity to the game.
The Jaiswal moment, in contrast, offered a lighter side to the competition and quickly went viral on social media. Fans appreciated his humor and the camaraderie between players, showcasing the spirit of cricket beyond its competitive edge.
On the field, the match has been equally engaging. Australia, chasing India’s first innings total of 185, resumed play at 1/9 and fell just four runs short, concluding their innings at 181.

Noteworthy performances included Beau Webster’s impressive 57 on debut.
India’s Jasprit Bumrah, however, was taken for scans due to a back injury after bowling only 10 overs. With the uncertainty surrounding Bumrah’s ability to bowl in the second innings, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna stepped up to take three wickets each.
Smith’s late dropped catch of Ravindra Jadeja could prove critical as it prevented Australia from further reducing India’s wicket count heading into day three.
