NEW DELHI: The Outer Delhi Police have seized over 15,000 liquor bottles and 155,000 quarters in Delhi following the imposition of the model code of conduct.
The police have also registered 50 cases and arrested 53 individuals for supplying illicit liquor during the ongoing Delhi Assembly Election.
DCP of Outer Delhi, Sachin Sharma, stated that a special drive was launched during the elections.
“We have seized 15,000 bottles, 155,000 quarters, and 1,100 IMFL bottles. Apart from this, we have also confiscated six vehicles, including one mini truck and one motorcycle, used in the supply of illicit liquor,” said Mr. Sharma.

A source revealed that the Delhi Police also shared a crucial tip-off with Bahadurgarh Police, which enabled the Haryana Police to seize three trucks and one e-rickshaw containing 111,050 bottles of illicit liquor.
Given the ongoing election campaign, there is a high possibility of illicit liquor being supplied. The Outer Delhi Police have deployed multiple teams to monitor and apprehend liquor suppliers.
The Delhi Police top brass have directed all staff to keep a vigilant eye on all sorts of suspicious activities in the area. This initiative is not only aiding in preventing election-related offenses but also helping to curb overall crime in the region during the Assembly Election.

“We are also keeping a close watch on any untoward incidents and suspicious individuals who could disrupt social harmony,” added a senior police official.
