SRINAGAR: Social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, popularly called Orry, along with seven others, have been charged for allegedly consuming liquor at a lodge in Katra, the gateway to the revered Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, situated in Reasi district.
According to an official statement from Jammu and Kashmir Police, the case was filed against the eight individuals for โbreaching legal provisions,โ and a team has been mobilized to apprehend them for allegedly offending public sentiment.
On March 15, authorities at Katra Police Station received a formal complaint stating that certain visitors residing at a hotel were found indulging in alcohol consumption within the premises, contravening the established regulations. Following the complaint, an FIR (No. 72/25) was lodged at Katra Police Station against the group.
The individuals named in the FIR include Orhan Awatramani, Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Anastasila Arzamaskina. Despite being explicitly informed that alcohol and non-vegetarian food were strictly prohibited in the establishment due to its close proximity to the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, they allegedly proceeded with liquor consumption.
Acknowledging the seriousness of the incident, SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh, directed immediate action to apprehend the accused, emphasizing a strict policy of zero tolerance toward any activities at religious sites that could potentially hurt public sentiments.
