The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted multiple raids at several locations in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh in its ongoing probe into the Ansar-Ghazwa-Ul-Hind (AGUH) case that is linked to the radicalisation of gullible youth over various social media platforms for carrying out violent terrorist acts. The NIA has carried out raids and searches at houses of eight suspects across the three States.

AGUH is a proscribed terror organization with links to global terror organisations like Al-Qaeda, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JEM), and Lashkar-e-Taiyaba (LeT)

The raids and searches were carried out at four locations in Nagpur (Maharashtra), and one location each in the Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh, and Valsad, Surat and Botad districts of Gujarat. Incriminating materials, including digital devices (mobile phones, memory cards) and documents have been seized.

In July 2022, a case was registered in PS Phulwari Sharif against members of the AGUH module, which was being operated and controlled from Pakistan. Marghoob Ahmad Danish alias Tahir, who was the admin of a WhatsApp Group ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’, and was originally operated by a Pakistani national, was arrested in the case.

Marghoob had created ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’ groups on different social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Telegram, and BiP Messenger. He had also created a dedicated WhatsApp group for Bangladeshi nationals, with the title -‘BDGhazwa E HindBD’.

Marghoob had added many persons from India as well as from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Yemen, to these groups. The module was aimed to radicalize impressionable Indian youth with the ultimate objective of the conquest of India-‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’.

The members of this group were being radicalized with the aim to convert them into ‘Sleeper Cells’ for carrying out terrorist activities.

NIA had filed a Charge-sheet against Marghoob Ahmad Danish in January 2023 and had continued its investigations in RC-32/2022/NIA-DLI.

Today’s raids are in continuation of the above-mentioned investigation and further breakthrough is expected in the case after today’s raids.
