On World Tribal Day, Gehlot Highlights Development Work In Tribal Areas

JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects worth ₹399 crore at Mangarh and Sangdungri in Banswara on the occasion of World Tribal Day.

Gehlot stated on World Tribal Day that the day provides us with an opportunity to consider how to solve tribal difficulties and problems.Keeping in mind its importance, the state government declared this day a public holiday last year.

Addressing the function organised at Mangarh Dham, the historical pilgrimage of tribals, Gehlot said that the state government is making continuous efforts for the all-round upliftment of the tribals.

Gehlot paid floral tributes at the Mangarh Martyrs Memorial where 1500 tribesmen were shot by the Britishers 104 years ago. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of various works worth ₹291.77 crore in Mangarh.

He laid the foundation stone of 33 works of the Tribal Area Development Department costing ₹88.30 crore, six works of the Public Works Department worth ₹74 crore and ₹129 crore works of the Water Resources Department. Aside from that, he also dedicated various works totaling ₹65 crore.

Gehlot said, “Our government is working continuously for the development of Mangarh Dham, a pilgrimage for the tribals. On the demand of Dharamshala at Mangarh Dham, it will be constructed with the help of MLA and Regional Development and Water Resources Minister Mahendrajit Singh Malviya.”

Giving information about the efforts being made for the development of the tribal areas and the upliftment of the tribals, Gehlot said that medical colleges and English-medium schools have been opened in the tribal areas so that the tribal children would get opportunities to become doctors.

Discussing Rajasthan’s health model across the country, Gehlot said that every family is getting health security from the Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme of the government. In this, along with health insurance up to ₹10 lakh per family, arrangements have been made for free treatment of costly diseases like cochlear implants and bone cancer.

During the function, the Chief Minister announced expansion of the capacity of the hospitals of Bagidaura and Anandpuri to 100 beds. He said that service is our karma and dharma.

The former Minister of State for Education, Govind Singh Dotasra, said that the celebration of World Tribal Day at Mangarh, the holy land of Govind Guru, is special in itself. The state government has always been committed to the development of the poor and needy. Children from poor families are getting a good education due to innovations like the Mukhyamantri Anupriti Coaching Scheme and the Mahatma Gandhi English Medium School.
