NEW DELHI: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called upon the youth to develop a scientific temper and harness the internationally competitive infrastructure being set up in India to excel in frontier technologies. Addressing the inaugural session of Vigyan Vaibhav 2025, a two-day science and technology event in Hyderabad organized as part of National Science Day celebrations, he emphasized the critical role of emerging technologies in national security and development.

โWar is increasingly moving from hardware to software-oriented. New technological breakthroughs are on the horizon and we have to take a lead in transformative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Machine Learning and Clean-tech. India can remain strong and secure in adverse situations if it has solutions to critical technological challenges. Our youth must adopt scientific outlook & critical thinking and try to go beyond the ordinary,โ said Shri Rajnath Singh. He recalled the words of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam who said โScience is a beautiful gift to humanity; we should not distort it but use it for betterment of societyโ.

The Defence Minister reaffirmed the governmentโs commitment to leveraging modern technology for national security and growth, stating that empowering the youth through scientific education is key to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He highlighted the transformative impact of the New Education Policy 2020, which focuses on fostering creativity, critical thinking, and innovation in science education.
Hyderabad: A Hub for Scientific Excellence
Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy also addressed the gathering, emphasizing Hyderabadโs legacy as a center for scientific and technological innovation. โHyderabad has long been a hub of scientific excellence, and Vigyan Vaibhav 2025 is an opportunity for young minds to dream big and embrace innovation with passion,โ he stated.
As part of the event, a grand exhibition was held, attracting over 30,000 students and featuring 200+ stalls showcasing cutting-edge defence and aerospace technologies developed by DRDO and leading Indian industries. The exhibition aimed to inspire curiosity and innovation among young minds while encouraging them to pursue careers in STEM fields, thus fostering the next generation of scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs who will drive Indiaโs global technological leadership.
Key Dignitaries and Organizing Bodies
The event was attended by senior officials, including Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO; Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, President, Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI); along with Director Generals, Directors of DRDO, and CMDs of public sector undertakings (PSUs) and leading industrial heads.
