NEW DELHI: In a decisive operation, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police apprehended a notorious criminal associated with the infamous Gogi Gang following a brief shootout in the early hours of Friday.
The encounter occurred in the Rohini area, where Mohammed Faijan, a known member of the Gogi Gang, was taken into custody after sustaining a gunshot wound. The arrest represents a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to combat gang-related violence in the city. Amit Kaushik, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the Special Cell, disclosed that a specialized team, led by Inspector Man Singh and Inspector Sanjeev, was deployed in the Rohini area to gather intelligence and initiate necessary action against wanted criminals.
“During this operation, we received confidential information indicating that Mohammed Faijan alias Nanhe, wanted in connection with a murder case in Loni, Ghaziabad, and evading arrest in other criminal cases, would be present near Japanese Park, Sector-10, Rohini, Delhi, at approximately 2:15 AM to meet his associates,” stated Kaushik.

Acting swiftly on this intelligence, the police laid a trap near gate no.3 of Japanese Park. “Upon interception of a motorcycle rider near gate no.3, the accused opened fire on the police party upon noticing their presence and attempted to flee the scene. In response, the police team retaliated and discharged firearms at the accused, resulting in him sustaining a gunshot wound,” Kaushik elaborated.
The law enforcement officers recovered a sophisticated semi-automatic pistol, three live cartridges, and the motorcycle utilized by the accused. Subsequently, the injured suspect was promptly transported to Dr. BSA Hospital for medical treatment. “Legal proceedings by the law are being initiated against him, while further investigations into the matter are currently underway,” affirmed Kaushik.
The arrest of Mohammed Faijan signifies a significant milestone in the ongoing battle against gang-related criminal activities in the city. The Gogi Gang, notorious for its involvement in a plethora of criminal endeavours including murder, extortion, robbery, and carjacking, has long been a target of the Delhi Police’s scrutiny.
