NOIDA: The long arm of law finally caught up with Shrikant Tyagi, whose video of abusing and manhandling a woman of a residential society went viral on social media.

Tyagi’s luck finally ran out when Noida Police arrested him, as well as his three accomplices, from Meerut’s Shraddhapuri Colony early on Tuesday. Police said that he was staying with a person known to him. Police also suspect that he had taken the help of college students as well as people in Meerut.

Police sources told The New Indian that Tyagi was taking shelter with the help of his various contacts in Western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

At least eight teams of UP Police, including a Special Task Force (STF), have been trailing Tyagi since he was booked in a case of molestation on August 5.

Tyagi fled in his Baleno car, driven by his driver. Later on, three more people joined him. Police traced his location at Hapur Toll Plaza, which helped them locate his movement to Western UP.

Police said that Tyagi then managed to avoid other toll plazas by taking a detour through villages along the highway.

Police suspect that Tyagi stayed in Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh in Uttarakhand before returning to Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Police said that Tyagi stayed in Saharanpur till Monday. He reached Meerut at around 6 am on Tuesday when a Noida Police team nabbed him.
