There were “no errors” in the care and treatment of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, said the report submitted by the AIIMS panel appointed to probe the popular leader’s death, on Saturday.
“The treatment of former CM was as per correct medical practice and no errors have been found in the care provided. Based on the medical records, a final diagnosis was made of Bacteremia and Septic shock with a respiratory infection,” the AIIMS report reads.
Earlier, Amma’s (Jayalalithaa) death was not taken lightly by her faithful O Panneerselvam, whom the ex-CM handed over charges, before being admitted to the hospital. Panneerselvam demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.
The Supreme Court gave its nod to the probe, while asking AIIMS to assist Justice A Arumughaswamy Commission. Earlier, on September 25, 2017, the Tamil Nadu government had appointed an inquiry commission headed by Justice Arumughaswamy, retired judge of the Madras High Court, to launch a probe into the death of Jayalalithaa.
Jayalalithaa was suffering from unchecked diabetes, hypothyroid and chronic bronchitis along with a host of other ailments. On September 22, 2016, the former CM was admitted to Chennai’s Apollo Hospital and was there for 75 days. She died on December 5.
