Delhi Police have arrested three people in connection with the fatal attack on a 27-year-old man in Central Delhi’s Ranjit Nagar. While the police claimed that it was a case of road rage, dissatisfied family members say that he was killed for being a member of the Bajrang Dal.

The family members also alleged that more than three people were involved in the brutal attack on gym trainer Nitesh Phore, who succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

According to police, Nitesh got into a fight with three people – Aqdas alias Abbas (21), Huzaifa Rehman (20) and Adnan (20) –
over honking in lanes of Ranjit Nagar. This led to a fight between them, following which Nitesh was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries at Safdarjung Hospital.

Nitesh’s mother, Babita, told The New Indian, there is more than meets the eye. She alleges that her son was killed as the family is a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

“There were not three, there were around 25 people who attacked my son. We gave the names of five people who picked up a fight with my son, but the police arrested only three people. The five attackers later called a mob who attacked my son,” said Babita.

“Since my son and our family are involved in Sangh (RSS) activities, that’s why they targeted us. This is happening all over India. Before my son, Kanhaiya bhai (Udaipur) and Manish (Delhi) were murdered by these people,” she alleged.

Nitesh was a part-time gym trainer and was the bread earner for the family that included his mother and younger brother, who is pursuing BCom from open school. Babita is now worried about who will take care of the family now.

“My son would often say that he would bring our good days back. He wanted to become a big gym trainer and wanted to open a gym,” she shared the dream that her elder son dreamt.

Speaking about the criminal charges against her son, Babita said, Nitesh was facing cases for fights involving people who had nothing to do with his murder.

Kis jawan ladke ki ladai nahi hoti (youngsters do fight). That was an old case that was even going to be settled with the other party. That case has nothing to do with the matter for which my son was killed,” she added.

Nitesh’s cousin, Deepak Phore, who is an active member of the RSS, alleges a deeper conspiracy, “They must have done the recce and were looking for an opportunity. In his childhood, Nitesh would go to shakha and often attend Sangh’s meetings in Delhi.”

Nitesh’s family says they want justice with the arrest of the other two accused and a proper investigation into the case. “We are not satisfied with police investigations,” his mother said.
