SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched synchronized raids across multiple locations in Kashmir on Tuesday in connection with an ongoing terror conspiracy investigation. The case, registered under FIR No. 01/2024, centres on the killings at Shalla Kadal, Srinagar.
In Srinagar, one of the key locations searched was Dawat Textiles, situated in Lal Mandi. It is owned by Jameel Ahmad Ainam, son of Habibullah Ainam, a resident of Sopore who now lives in Hyderpora. Similar operations were carried out in Sopore, Budgam, and three other areas.

In Sopore, the NIA searched the homes of Javid Ahmad Sheikh in Upper Ashipeer, Abdul Rashid Shalla in Sadiq Colony, and Nisar Ahmad Bukita in Check Roadi Khan. These raids are part of a broader investigation into the case involving Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF), responsible for killing two non-local civilians in February 2024.
The NIA had earlier filed a charge sheet against four individuals, including a Pakistan-based terrorist, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P) Act). The accusedโidentified as Adil Manzoor Langoo, Ahran Rasool Dar alias Tota, Dawood, and their Pakistani handler Jahangeer alias Peer Sahabโwere charged for their involvement in the brutal attack at Karfali Mohalla, Shalla Kadal, Srinagar.

The attack occurred on February 7, 2024, when terrorists killed two civiliansโAmritpal Singh and Rohit, both from Amritsar. Investigations revealed that Adil Langoo had joined LeT in 2023, influenced by Pakistani handlers who directed him to disrupt peace by targeting non-locals.
The NIA Special Court in Jammu has issued a non-bailable warrant against Jahangeer, who remains absconding. This case underscores LeT/TRFโs strategy of recruiting unemployed youth in Kashmir and exploiting social media to spread propaganda.
