JAMMU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting extensive searches at 12 locations across Jammu in connection with a case related to the infiltration of terrorists from across the border.
Officials confirmed that the raids, launched in collaboration with local police and security agencies, began early in the morning based on precise intelligence inputs. The operation targets suspected hideouts of overground workers (OGWs) and hybrid terrorists. Additionally, premises linked to sympathizers and active members of these networks are being searched as part of the wider crackdown.
The NIA also registered a case (RC-04/2024/NIA/JMU) on October 24, 2024, following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The investigation centers on the infiltration of heavily armed terrorists belonging to banned outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) into Indian territory via the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC).
These infiltrations were reportedly orchestrated with assistance from OGWs and other operatives stationed in villages across the Jammu region. These local associates are suspected of facilitating terrorists by providing them with logistical aid, including food, shelter, funds, and transportation.
In November 2024, the NIA conducted similar raids at eight locations across the districts of Reasi, Doda, Udhampur, Ramban, and Kishtwar. The searches led to the seizure of crucial evidence establishing links between members of banned terrorist groups, hybrid terrorists, and their local facilitators.
As part of that crackdown, multiple properties tied to terror operatives and their sympathizers were raided, yielding materials confirming their involvement in supporting infiltrating terrorists.
The ongoing searches in Jammu are expected to yield further evidence, with authorities stating that investigations are progressing to dismantle the wider terror network aiding cross-border infiltration.
