At least seven people — all Hindus — died in a terror attack and in the explosion of an IED planted by terrorists in Rajouri.
The recent killing of seven people, including two children, by terrorists in Jammu’s Rajouri is likely to be investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), sources indicated on Wednesday.
Pakistan-supported terrorists gunned down five people belonging to the Hindu community in Upper Dangri village of Rajouri district on the evening of January 1. On the next morning, two children lost their lives as an IED (improvised explosive device) planted by terrorists went off near the house of one of the victims of the terrorist attack.
Several others had sustained injuries in the firing and subsequent IED blast.
Two terrorists involved in the attack have been neutralised, the Indian Army said last Sunday, January 8.
According to sources in the national capital, the NIA may take over the case of the targeted terror attack, originally registered by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
A notification may be issued by the Union home ministry for the case to be handed over to the anti-terror probe agency, sourced cited above informed.

However, NIA officials remained tight-lipped about the development.
On January 2, a group of children were playing near the residence of one of the victims of the attack when a 4-year-old boy accidentally stepped over an IED, resulting in a powerful blast that killed another child and injured six others.
In recent months, terrorists have been targeting civilians and several migrant workers in Kashmir.
Following the Rajouri terror attack, the Union home ministry issued an order to deploy an additional 18 companies to Jammu and Kashmir.
The village sarpanch and several others had demanded a probe by the NIA.
