New Delhi: New Zealand capped off their dominant T20I series today against Pakistan with a resounding eight-wicket victory in the fifth match at Sky Stadium, Wellington. The Black Caps clinched the series 4-1, showcasing their all-round brilliance throughout.
Batting first, Pakistan struggled to find rhythm and posted a modest total of 128/9 in 20 overs. Captain Salman Ali Agha led the charge with a gritty 51 off 39 balls, while Shadab Khan contributed 28 off 20 balls. However, the rest of the batting lineup faltered against New Zealandโs disciplined bowling attack.
Jacob Duffy (2/18) and Jimmy Neesham (5/22) were the standout performers, with Neesham claiming his maiden five-wicket haul in T20Is. Pakistanโs inability to build partnerships and their vulnerability to swing and seam movement were evident throughout the series.
In response, New Zealandโs batting was nothing short of spectacular. Tim Seifert delivered a breathtaking unbeaten 97 off just 38 balls, smashing six fours and ten sixes. His aggressive intent was clear from the outset, as he plundered 18 runs off the first over bowled by Jahandad Khan. Finn Allen supported Seifert with a quickfire 27 off 12 balls, while Daryl Mitchell (2*) ensured a smooth finish. The hosts chased down the target in just 10 overs, finishing at 131/2.

For Pakistan, the series highlighted their struggles with both bat and ball. Salman Ali Agha was the leading run-scorer with 116 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup lacked consistency.

Assistant coach Azhar Mahmood acknowledged the teamโs shortcomings, stating, โWe need to perform as a unit, not just rely on individual brilliance. This series has been a learning curve for us.โ
This match and series underscored New Zealandโs dominance and Pakistanโs need for improvement as they prepare for the upcoming ODI series on March 28th in Napier.
