NEW DELHI: A Skill India International Centre will be set up in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in collaboration with Hindustan Ports Pvt Ltd to train Indian youth for pursuing overseas employment opportunities in logistics, port and allied areas.
NSDC International and Hindustan Ports Private Limited, the Indian unit of United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up the centre in the temple city.
The centre will impart skills to the youth as per international standards that will help them in pursuing international employment opportunities.
It will host training facilities, providing skills as per the demand of international employers in countries like UAE, Canada, Australia and other Gulf countries.
The MoU was exchanged between the two entities in presence of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, minister of skill development and entrepreneurship and Rajeev Chandrasekar, and UAE’s minister of state for skill development & entrepreneurship Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi.
During the MoU signing, the two sides agreed to develop and strengthen comprehensive institutional framework for engaging all relevant stakeholders to scale up skills-based cooperation, including in up-skilling of workforce, training of trainers, facilitating exchange programmes and apprenticeship engagement, officials said.
