New record: How 17 Gehlot ministers lost in Rajasthan

NEW DELHI: In a humiliating defeat to the Congress in Rajasthan, 17 ministers in the Ashok Gehlot cabinet witnessed massive humiliation at the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) losing in all of their constituencies which were initially demarcated as the Grand Old Party’s bastion.

Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Pramod Jain Bhaiya, lost to Kanwarlal of the BJP in Anta, with a margin of 5,861 votes. While the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies, Pratap Singh Khachariyavas lost out to Gopal Sharma with a depressing margin of 28,329 votes.

There were similar trends that could be seen in Pokaran constituency where the Minister of Minority Affairs Shale Mohammed lost his seat to BJP’s Pratap Puri with a margin of 35,427 votes. While Gehlot’s close aide and Revenue Minister, Ram Lal Jat lost his seat in Mandal to Udai Lal Bhadana with a margin of 35,878 votes.

While the Minister of Health Parsadi Lal lost out to Rambilas from the BJP with a margin of 47,068, from his constituency of Lalsot. Anjana Udyaylal, on the other hand, the Minister of Co-operative in Nimbahera constituency lost to the saffron party’s Shrichand Kriplani with a margin of 3,845.

 

The Cabinet Minister of Panchayati Raj Ramesh Chand Meena lost out to Hansraj Meena with a margin of 43,834 in the Sapotra constituency. On the other hand, Bhajan Lal Jatav, the PWD Minister, lost to BJP’s Bahadur Singh with a margin of 6,972 votes, in the Weir constituency.

Minister of Civil Aviation Vishvendra Singh lost out to Dr Shailesh Singh from the BJP with a margin of 7,895 votes in the Deeg-Kumher constituency. While the Minister of Child Empowerment Mamta Bhupesh lost to the BJP’s Vikram Bansiwal with a margin of 9,428 votes, in the Sikrai constituency.

Shakuntala Rawat, the Minister of State Enterprises, lost to the BJP’s Devi Singh Shekhawat with a margin of 15,966 votes in the Bansur constituency. On the other hand, Disaster Management minister Govind Ram Meghwal lost a humiliating defeat against the BJP’s Dr Vishwanath Meghwal in the Khajuwala constituency.

 

Sanskrit Minister Bulaki Das Kalla lost to the BJP’s Jethanand Vyas by a margin of 20,194 votes from the Bikaner West constituency. Higher Education minister Rajendra Singh Yadav recorded another defeat with a slender margin of 321 votes, in the Kotputli constituency.

While Power Minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati lost out to the BJP’s Anshuman Singh Bhati with a margin of 32,933 votes in the Kolayat constituency. On the other hand, Sukhram Vishnoi, the Labour Minister, lost to BJP’s Jiva Ram Choudhary by 4,671 seats from the Sanchore constituency.
