Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” to visit India from May 31 to June 3

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, is set to undertake an official visit to India from May 31 to June 3, 2023. The visit comes in response to an invitation extended by Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and marks the first bilateral visit abroad for Prime Minister Prachanda since assuming office in December 2022. Accompanying him will be a high-level delegation, further emphasizing the significance of the visit.

During his stay, Prachanda will hold crucial discussions with the President and Vice-President, as well as engage in extensive talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meetings will focus on enhancing the multifaceted bilateral partnership between India and Nepal. Additionally, prominent Indian dignitaries will have the opportunity to meet and exchange views with the visiting Prime Minister.

In a notable aspect of the visit, Prime Minister Prachanda will also embark on visits to Ujjain and Indore, further strengthening the cultural and people-to-people ties between the two nations.

This visit upholds the long-standing tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Nepal, aligning with India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy.

“The visit continues the tradition of regular high level exchanges between India and Nepal in furtherance of our ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. The bilateral relations between the two countries have significantly strengthened in the last few years in all areas of cooperation. This visit underscores the importance given by both sides in adding further momentum to the bilateral partnership,” an official statement said.

Nepalese Ambassador to India, Shankar Prasad Sharma, held a meeting with India’s Minister for External Affairs, S Jaishankar, in New Delhi this week. The primary focus of their discussion was the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Prachanda from Nepal to India. The meeting aimed to lay the groundwork for a successful and productive visit, fostering closer ties and cooperation between the two nations.
