NDMC addresses grievances, announces redevelopment of Valmiki Sadan, Bapu Dham

NDMC organized Public Grievance Redressal Program

New Delhi:The NDMC held a “Public Grievance Redressal Program” on Saturday, addressing public concerns in Bapu Dham, Chanakyapuri, Valmiki Sadan and Mandir Marg. NDMC Chairperson, Keshav Chandra, Vice-Chairperson, Kuljeet Singh Chahal, and Member, Anil Valmiki led the initiative, accompanied by heads of various departments.

The program aimed to address issues raised by residents of employee residential colonies, with the leadership team engaging directly with citizens and issuing on-the-spot directions for resolution.

Chairperson Keshav Chandra highlighted the initiative’s significance, stating, “People often face challenges in reaching out to us due to protocols and other barriers. This program is our way of listening to their concerns and ensuring prompt solutions. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s values, NDMC is committed to preserving Gandhi Ji’s historic photographs and memorabilia from his stay in Valmiki Sadan.”

Vice-Chairperson, Kuljeet Singh Chahal emphasized the importance of sanitation workers, stating, “These areas are where the backbone of our cleanliness drive resides. The redevelopment of Valmiki Sadan and Bapu Dham is a top priority. Repairing quarters, replacing sewage systems, and completing other developmental projects are being done with urgency.”

NDMC has allocated Rs. 7.80 crore for redevelopment in Valmiki Sadan, including the repair of 321 Type-1 quarters and Rs. 70 lakh for Bapu Dham Residential Complex, with another Rs. 37 lakh project in the pipeline. The initiatives include strengthening balcony structures, installing CC flooring, and replacing overhead water tanks.

Residents raised issues like water scarcity, sewage blockages, streetlight repairs, and stray animal management. Immediate instructions were issued to department heads for resolution. Chahal assured timely completion, adding, “Today’s program reflects Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Development and Heritage.’”

Anil Valmiki assured residents of his constant support, stating, “My office and home are always open for citizens. We are committed to addressing grievances promptly.”

The NDMC also reaffirmed its commitment to preserving Gandhi’s heritage, ensuring that Valmiki Sadan remains a historical landmark. This public outreach program underscored NDMC’s dedication to improving living conditions and delivering citizen-centric governance.
