Muslim World League Secretary-General Sheikh Dr Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa acknowledges India’s unity and contribution to humanity
NEW DELHI: Muslim World League (MWL) Secretary-General Sheikh Dr Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa held a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, engaging in discussions covering a range of topics
Al-Issa, who is currently on a visit to India, also delivered a speech at an event organised by the Khusro Foundation and the India Islamic Cultural Centre.
During his address at the India-Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi, Sheikh Dr Al-Issa commended India’s unity and the sense of national pride exhibited by the Muslim community within the country.

He acknowledged their pride in being Indian nationals and their appreciation for the Indian Constitution. “They are proud that they are Indian nationals and they are proud of their Constitution,” he said.

Dr Al-Issa further recognised India’s contributions to humanity, specifically mentioning the country’s renowned wisdom. He emphasised the common objective of peaceful coexistence and applauded India’s diverse components as a remarkable model of harmony in both theory and practice. He expressed his sincere appreciation for the efforts made to promote coexistence within the country.
“We have heard a lot about Indian wisdom…We know that we have a common objective of co-existing peacefully together…We know that the Indian components with all its diversity is a great model for coexistence not only in mere words but also on the ground and we appreciate all the efforts taken in this regard,” he noted.

The official visit of Al-Issa to India was made possible through the invitation extended by the Indian government. MWL, an international non-governmental organisation headquartered in Mecca, represents members from various Islamic countries and sects.
The organisation aims to promote Islam and its principles of tolerance, provide humanitarian aid, foster dialogue and cooperation with all, cultivate openness to diverse cultures and civilizations, advocate moderation, and counter extremist ideologies promoting violence and exclusion.
