The quinquagenarian first chopped off his lover’s body into 20 pieces using tree cutter & then boiled it in a pressure cooker
MUMBAI: In yet another gruesome killing involving live-in partners, a middle-aged man killed his girlfriend of three years, chopped her body parts, then boiled it but was caught before he could dispose of them.
As per the police, the horrifying crime took place at a rented flat in the quiet neighborhood of Geeta Nagar Phase-7 in Mumbai’s Mira Road a few days back.
On Wednesday, authorities arrested 56-year-old Manoj Sahani and recovered decomposing and dismembered body parts from their accommodation.
The grisly incident came to light when concerned residents of Geeta Akash Deep building made a distress call to the Nayanagar police station, reporting a pungent stench emanating from flat number 704.
Responding swiftly to the complaint, a police team arrived at the scene only to uncover a scene of unimaginable horror. Inside the apartment, they stumbled upon the remains of the victim, later identified as 32-year-old Saraswati Vaidya.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder occurred two to three days prior to the discovery, leaving investigators to believe that Sahani had been living alongside the dismembered body during that time. As the police continue their inquiry, they aim to ascertain the motive behind this heinous act and the method employed by Sahani.

He allegedly meticulously chopped her body into more than 20 pieces using two distinct cutters, including an electric one. The authorities have seized the instruments utilized in the gruesome act.
“This is a grotesque killing that occurred on June 4. The accused has gone to great lengths to dismember the body, but we will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of justice,” said Shrikant Pathak, additional commissioner of police, Mira-Bhayander Vasai Virar Police.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Jayant Bajbale said, “We have taken Sahani into custody and are diligently investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder.”
Police officials revealed that certain body parts are currently unaccounted for, indicating that Sahani may have disposed of them elsewhere. They are actively searching for the missing remains while a forensic team has been summoned to collect crucial samples and evidence from the crime scene.

Neighbors residing in the building disclosed that Sahani and Vaidya kept to themselves, rarely engaging with others in the community. Interestingly, the couple’s flat lacks a nameplate and is registered under the name of Sonam Builders, adding a layer of intrigue to an already baffling crime.
The authorities are in the process of registering a case against Sahani under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
This unsettling incident serves as a chilling reminder of the recent shocking murder of Palghar resident Shraddha Walkar, who suffered a similar fate at the hands of her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawalla in Delhi’s Chhatarpur earlier this year.
