SRINAGAR: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir launched a series of coordinated raids across 25 locations in Rajouri on Wednesday, targeting the residences of terrorists operating from across the Line of Control (LoC). The raids, conducted in various parts of the border district, were part of ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
These raids were against terrorists based in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), official sources confirmed. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel provided tactical support to the police teams during the operation, officials stated.
Among the targeted locations were the homes of Iftikhar Hussain and his brother, Mohd Parvaz, in Tundi Tarar near Rajouri town. Security teams arrived at approximately 9:50 AM and conducted searches for over an hour, but no incriminating material was recovered, officials noted.
A third sibling, Mohd Asgarโalso known by his aliases โBillaโ and โKakaโโhas been identified as a terrorist currently operating from across the LoC, they added. The search operations remain ongoing, and additional details are expected as investigations progress, officials said.
These raids come just a day after security forces carried out extensive combing operations at nearly two dozen locations across Jammu as part of an intensified campaign to dismantle terrorist networks in the region. The region witnessed multiple terror attacks last year, prompting a heightened security response.
Despite rigorous sweeps through high-altitude terrain and forested zones along the LoC, security teams did not encounter any terrorists during the latest round of operations. However, officials emphasized that anti-terror initiatives are being escalated to prevent terrorists from taking advantage of the winter season to establish hideouts and regroup.
