NEW DELHI: In a resounding victory, BJP leader Ramesh Mendola clinched the Indore-2 seat in the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls by an extraordinary margin of 1,07,047 votes. This triumph marks Mendola’s fourth consecutive win in a constituency that has long been considered a stronghold for the BJP.

 

In the electoral battleground of Indore-2, Mendola secured a staggering 1,69,071 votes, overshadowing his nearest rival, Congress’ Chintu Choukse, who garnered 62,024 votes. The decisive victory underlines Mendola’s unwavering popularity and the electorate’s steadfast support for the BJP in this region.

Known for his political prowess, Mendola has maintained a dominant presence in Indore-2 since 2008, demonstrating a consistent ability to secure the voters’ confidence. In the 2018 Assembly elections, he secured 1,38,794 votes, achieving a substantial victory margin of 71,011 votes, with a vote share of 63.94 per cent.

 

 

In 2008, he received 75,333 votes against Congress’ Suresh Seth, who got 35,396.

 

2023 Assembly Constituency Election

 

The recent electoral face-off witnessed Mendola’s victory over Chintu Choukse, further solidifying his standing in this constituency. Indore-2, with a total of 3,48,806 voters, has proven to be a bastion for the BJP, reflecting the party’s enduring appeal among the electorate.

 

Second on the list of the largest margins is BJP MLA Krishna Gaur from the Govindpura seat, who won with 1,06,335 votes. She not only defeated Congress candidate Ravindra Sahu but also surpassed her father-in-law late Babulal Gaur’s record.

 

2018 Assembly Constituency Election

 

Significantly, several prominent ministers, including Narottam Mishra from Datia, Mahendra Singh Sisodia representing Banmori in Guna, Kamal Patel in Harda, Arvind Bhadoria from Ater in Bhind, Faggan Singh Kulaste in Niwas, Suresh Rathkheda in Pohri, Shivpuri, Rajvardhan Dattigaon of Badnawar, faced defeat in the elections. In a surprising turn of events, some key figures in the Congress, such as Leader of the Opposition Govind Singh in Lahar, Bhind, Priyavrat Singh in Khilchipur, and the nephew of Digvijay Singh, also suffered electoral setbacks.

 

2013 Assembly Constituency Election

 

The election results in Madhya Pradesh saw the BJP sweeping the state with a two-thirds majority, securing 163 out of 230 seats in the Assembly. The Congress trailed far behind with 66 seats. Amidst this political landscape, Ramesh Mendola’s remarkable victory in Indore-2 stands out as an impressive feat, reinforcing the party’s stronghold in the region.

 

 

The record margin of 1,07,047 votes attests to Mendola’s enduring popularity and the emphatic support extended by the electorate of Indore-2.
