NEW DELHI: The ongoing Ranji Trophy has seen several high-profile players falter, raising questions about their current form and mental state ahead of important international fixtures. Among the prominent names failing to make an impact are Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and others like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Rishabh Pant’s return to the Ranji Trophy after six years was met with disappointment. Representing Delhi in their match against Saurashtra, Pant, known for his explosive batting and fearless approach, was dismissed for just a solitary run. His failure to get going has only added to the concerns surrounding his current form. As a player with such high expectations, especially after his performances in international cricket, his lack of impact in this domestic fixture has been a setback.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer also found himself underperforming in Mumbai’s encounter against Jammu and Kashmir. The star batter, who has been an integral part of India’s middle order, was dismissed for 11 runs, contributing little to his team’s total. Iyer walked to the crease with Mumbai in a precarious position at 30-3 and could not stabilize the innings. His quick-fire 11 included a six and a four, but a careless shot when Mumbai was already six wickets down left his team reeling at 47-7. The lack of patience and maturity in such crucial moments raised eyebrows and disappointed fans and teammates alike.

Adding to the concerns, India’s senior opener Rohit Sharma has also struggled in the ongoing tournament, failing to make significant contributions for his respective team. Similarly, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who have been vital parts of India’s top order, also fell early in their respective games, leaving their teams in difficult positions.
