Manna & Saraj: Two Ferozepur Men Being Probed In Moosewala Case

Punjab Police will question Saraj Singh and Manpreet Singh, who are lodged in Ferozepur jail, in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case

NEW DELHI: Moving ahead in its probe into the broad daylight murder of popular Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Mosewala, the Punjab Police has brought two suspected gangsters from Ferozpur jail for questioning in connection with the case.

A Punjab Police official related to the probe told The New Indian, “We have brought two dreaded criminals from the Ferozpur jail, who are suspected of providing logistics support to the shooters involved in the killing of Moosewala.”

He said that the two suspected criminals who have been brought from the Ferozepur jail are – Saraj Singh and Manpreet Singh.

He said that Manpreet Singh, a resident of Punjab’s Bhatinda is involved in seven cases of murder, extortion, arms act and others from 2014 to April this year.

The official said that Manpreet Singh faces four cases in the Bhatinda district under sections 307, 148, 149, 285, Arms Act25 and 27.

Manpreet Singh also faces three cases against him at different police stations in SAS Nagar and Haryana’s Sirsa.

Since his arrest in December 2018, Manpreet Singh has been lodged in jails of Bhatinda, Faridkot, Sri Mukatsar Sahib, Ferozepur and Roop Nagar districts.

According to a Punjab Police dossier Saraj Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran district of Punjab, is a dacoit, drug dealer, gangster and snatcher.

The official said that Saraj Singh is involved in 16 cases under several sections for murder, extortion and arms act.

He said that out of 16 cases eight are registered in Amritsar against Saraj Singh under several sections of the Indian Penal Code 307, 224, 225, 353, 186, 148, 149, 341, 506, 365, 379 (B) Arms Act 25, 54 and 59. The rest of the cases are registered in Tarn Taran, SBS Nagar, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar and Faridkot districts.

The official said that the criminal record of Saraj Singh started in 2007 and the latest case was registered against him in 2020. He said that since Saraj Singh’s arrest in 2018, he has been sent to Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Faridkot, Patiala, MSJ Nabha, Sri Mukatsar Sahil, Ferozpur and Bhatinda jails.

Moosewala was killed on May 29 in Punjab’s Mansa district. He had received 19 bullet injuries which led to his death.

The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has also taken the custody of dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi from high-security Tihar Jail for questioning for his alleged involvement in the murder.

After the death of Moosewala, a Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar took the responsibility. Brar took to his social media account to claim the responsibility, writing that “he and Bishnoi group was behind the murder”.

“Today, Moosewala was killed in Punjab, I, Sachin Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi take the responsibility. It’s our work. Moosewala’s name surfaced in our brother Vikramjit Singh Middukhera and Gurlal Brar’s murder, but the Punjab Police did not take any action against him. We also came to know that Moosewala was also involved in the encounter of our associate Ankit Bhadu. Moosewala was working against us. Delhi Police had taken his name but Moosewala used his political power and saved his skin each time,” Goldy wrote in his post on Facebook.
