CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Police have identified eight suspected sharpshooters belonging to Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Maharashtra who killed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala at Jawaharke village in Mansa on May 29.

The suspected sharpshooters are Jagroop Singh Rupa from Amritsar, Manni from Amritsar, Subhash Banuda from Rajasthan’s Sikar, Saurav Mahakal and Santosh Jadhav from Pune, Manpreet Singh Mannu from Moga in Punjab, Ankit Sersa Jati and Priyavrat Fauji of Sonipat in Haryana.

Moosewala was shot dead on May 29. His body had 19 bullet wounds and he died within 15 minutes of being shot, according to the post-mortem examination.

Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar had claimed responsibility for the murder in a Facebook post, calling it revenge for the killing of Youth Akali Dal leader Vicky Middukhera.

Brar’s associate and alleged gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is lodged in Delhi’s Tihar prison, during questioning by the Delhi Police on Monday, is learnt to have admitted that Brar was the mastermind of the killing.

He also reportedly told the police about the hideouts and the names of the arms suppliers based in Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.

The police, meanwhile, are learnt to have obtained new video footage of the killers, which was recorded by a young man passing by the spot. The clip purportedly shows one of the assailants shooting at Moosewala’s Thar. When the killers saw the man filming them, he was also shot but he escaped unhurt.
