Mizoram NHM Issues Show Cause Notice To Staff On Strike

AIZAWL: Mizoram NHM Mission Director Dr Eric Zomawia has sent a show cause notice to National Health Mission (NHM) Employees Union Mizoram (NEUM), who are currently on a mass leave from July 11-13 and have been on indefinite strike since July 14.

The show cause notice mentioned that the employees have violated the Mizoram Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1990 –which is a punishable act with the termination of their jobs, imprisonment of 1 year, and a fine of Rs 2000. The notice also informed all employees to immediately resume their work and submit a written report of why they should not be terminated to the NHM Mission Director within three days.

NEUM President, Malsawmtluanga Hauhnar stated that unless the government meets their demands, they shall continue with their indefinite strike.

The NHM staff have taken a mass leave since July 13, 2022, following demands of regularisation, regular pay, medical reimbursement and transfer allowance.
