Microsoft launches Copilot PCs

NEW DELHI: Microsoft at a special launch event on Monday unveiled Copilot+ PCs, a new Windows PC designed for AI. The leading tech company claimed this new series of Windows PCs to be the fastest and most intelligent Windows PCs ever built, offering powerful performance and advanced AI capabilities.

 

Key features of Copilot+ PCs

  1. Silicon Power: Copilot PCs are equipped with the power of silicon which enables it to perform 40+ trillion operations per second (TOPS).

 

  1. All-day battery life: Boasting an efficient battery life, users can use Copilot PCs throughout the day on a single charge.

 

  1. AI models: The most advanced feature of these PCs is their access to the advanced AI models.

 

What experiences does it provide?

  1. Recall: In a special feature, users can easily find and remember what they’ve seen on their PC throughout the day.

 

  1. Co-creator: This tool helps in generating and refining the AI images on a real-time basis.

 

  1. Live Captions: The Copilot+ PCs also provide the feature of translating audio from 40+ languages into English.

Where to buy?

The users can purchase the new Copilot+ PCs from the Microsoft Surface. This PC can also be bought from prominent brands like ASUS, Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung.

 

Price and Availability:

With a starting price of 999 dollars, the pre-orders for the Copilot PCs started on May 20 and one can get the first device as early as 18 June 2024.

 

What makes Copilot+ PCs different?

According to Microsoft, the Copilot PCs are designed by keeping AI at the center. The Copilot+ PCs are expected to achieve unmatched performance by integrating CPU, GPU, and a new Neural Processing Unit (NPU).

 

What about the competitors?

The leaders from Microsoft at the special event, claimed that their new Copilot+ PCs outperform Apple’s MacBook Air performance.

 

Future plans:

Intending to ship over 50 million AI-enabled PCs within the next year, Microsoft has taken the much-needed leap in comparison with Google, the other major tech giant working on AI.
