Shankaracharya Swami Nischalanand Saraswati of Puri Peeth has raised the issue of Mecca’s Mecceshwar Mahadev temple once more.

Addressing the Hindu Rashtra symposium in Rajasthan’s Nagaur on Sunday, Swami Nischalanand Saraswati said, “What do you want to talk about Gyanvapi? We should now discuss Mecca, as there is also a Macceshwar Mahadev temple over there.”

This was not the first time the revered saint spoke about the Mecceshwar Mahadev Temple. In June, the saint expressed the same sentiments during his visit to Kashi.

Earlier in April, the Aligarh branch of Hindu Mahasabha issued a Hindu New Year Calendar where some mosques and monuments from the Mughal era were named Hindu temples.

The calendar also named Mecca, the most revered site for Muslims, as Mecceshwar Mahadev Temple and stated that there was a temple of Lord Shiva at that place.

Meanwhile, according to various reports, Swami Nischalanand Saraswati also said that if the government declares India a Hindu nation, 15 other countries will also declare themselves as Hindu nations. He named Nepal and Mauritius as being among those nations.

Expressing concerns about the lumpy virus disease that is affecting the state, Swami Nischalanand said, “Cows are very useful for human life. Cows are also beneficial for our health. We should protect it.”

Talking about the influence of Western culture on youth, Swami Nischalanand said, “Western culture does affect our youth. But then I also studied in Delhi and I did not let Western culture dominate me. It affects us when we let it dominate us.”
