Las Vegas Grand Prix: Max Verstappen secured his fourth F1 title.

NEW DELHI: George Russell delivered a commanding performance to win the Las Vegas Grand Prix for Mercedes, holding off teammate Lewis Hamilton, who finished second. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr. completed the podium in third place. Strategic battles and significant tyre wear marked the race, but Russell’s flawless drive from pole position ensured his second win of the season.

Max Verstappen secured his fourth consecutive Formula 1 World Championship title despite finishing fifth. Verstappen only needed to finish ahead of Lando Norris to seal the championship and did so, extending his lead to 63 points. This achievement places him in the elite club of drivers with four or more titles, joining legends like Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, and Sebastian Vettel. Reflecting on his milestone, Verstappen said, “It’s an incredible feeling to join the ranks of the greats. This season has been tough, but that makes this title even more special.”

Mercedes dominated the Las Vegas street circuit, with Hamilton pushing hard to challenge Russell but ultimately falling short. Hamilton acknowledged the effort, saying, “I gave it everything I had, but George was just too strong today. Congratulations to Max on his fourth title; he’s been phenomenal this season.” Russell, ecstatic with the victory, remarked, “I was planning on flying out in a few hours, but that’s not happening! We’ll be celebrating all night long.”

The race was packed with drama, as tyre management became a critical factor. Sainz’s steady performance earned Ferrari a much-needed podium, while Norris’s sixth-place finish kept McLaren competitive in the constructors’ standings.

Verstappen’s dominance this season has been evident, but his championship win highlights Red Bull’s consistency under pressure. As the season nears its end, the battle for the remaining podium places in the drivers’ and constructors’ championships promises more excitement.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix showcased the unpredictability and brilliance of Formula 1, blending thrilling races with milestones that etch themselves into the sport’s history.
