NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia took to the streets of Kalkaji on Friday, launching his padyatra in preparation for the upcoming 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. Recently released from Tihar Jail after being imprisoned for 17 months in connection with the liquor excise policy case, Sisodia was met with enthusiasm by AAP supporters and locals alike.

The former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi expressed his joy at reconnecting with the public, saying, “I felt very happy to be among the people again.” He greeted the residents of the Kalkaji constituency and engaged in discussions about their concerns, signalling the beginning of AAP’s electoral campaign for next year’s election.

Throughout the padyatra, Sisodia received a warm welcome from locals who presented him with flowers and held up posters bearing his image. Sisodia has often been credited with leading an “education revolution” in Delhi during his tenure as education minister under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

During the march, Sisodia also took time to interact with children, underlining AAP’s focus on education. Joining Sisodia in Kalkaji were Greater Kailash MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj and several other AAP leaders and volunteers.

Sushil Singh, a party member, voiced the excitement surrounding Sisodia’s return, and told The New Indian, “We are very excited to see Manish Sisodia. He was imprisoned on false allegations. Now, he will meet the members of different constituencies and continue this padyatra.”

Sisodia’s padyatra marks the first of many as he plans to cover all 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi in the lead-up to the 2025 elections.

On this significant day, he also took the opportunity to extend birthday wishes to Arvind Kejriwal, calling it a special occasion for the party.

As the AAP ramps up its campaign efforts, Sisodia’s padyatra signals a renewed focus on public engagement and addressing the issues of Delhi’s residents, with the hope of securing another term in the upcoming elections.
