Manish Sisodia lashes out at Modi Govt, accuses BJP of conspiracy against Opposition

NEW DELHI: A day after being granted bail by the Supreme Court in the Delhi excise policy case, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia launched a fierce attack on the Modi 3.0 government.

In a fiery speech on Saturday, Sisodia accused the BJP of orchestrating a deeper conspiracy with the help of central agencies to unjustly imprison opposition leaders.

“BJP, which calls itself the biggest party in the world, could not prove in a single state that honest work is being done,” Sisodia charged, alleging that the saffron party was using false cases to target AAP leaders.

Sisodia, who was released after 17 months behind bars, claimed that BJP attempted to frame AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh, using stringent laws typically reserved for terrorists and drug dealers. “They thought they would lock us up in jails and leave us to rot like terrorists and drug dealers,” he said.

Expressing his dismay over the treatment of others in jail, Sisodia remarked, “I was pained to see businessmen being put behind bars in fake cases just because they didn’t donate money to BJP.”

Praising the Supreme Court’s decision, Sisodia said, “The top court used the power of the Constitution to trample dictatorship, and truth ultimately triumphed over lies.” He emphasized that the fight against dictatorship was not just AAP’s or the opposition’s, but the fight of the people of India. Sisodia urged AAP workers to ensure victory in the upcoming assembly polls, framing the elections as a battle against tyranny.

Earlier in the day, Sisodia, accompanied by AAP leaders, visited Raj Ghat to pay his respects. He also offered prayers at the Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place, expressing his belief that Lord Bajrang Bali’s blessings were with him and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal. “You will see that Kejriwal ji will be blessed in the same way,” he added.

Sisodia described himself and his fellow AAP leaders as “horses of a chariot,” stating, “Our real ‘saarthi’ is in jail, but he will come out soon.”

Reflecting on his time in jail, Sisodia said, “These tears have given me strength… I was hoping that justice would be delivered in 7-8 months. It took 17 months, but honesty and truth have won.”
