Staffer molests 30-yr-old woman at Noida salon, held

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly molested by a staffer of a salon located inside DLF Mall of India in Sector-18 of Noida, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. Accused Abhishek Kumar was arrested on the same day.

Police said the woman, who is a resident of Sector-1, was touched inappropriately by the Aligarh native when she was taking face massage at Looks Unisex Salon, located at the third floor of the mall.

According to the complainant, she resisted the act, and complained to the manager of the salon. The woman later came out of the mall and approached the Sector-20 police station. She narrated her ordeal in detail to police persons.

Based on her complaint, the Noida Police registered a case under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sector-20 police station and launched an investigation.

By late evening on Thursday, the police accessed the CCTV footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the mall and nabbed accused Abhishek, who presently lives in Noida’s Chalera village in a rented accommodation.

The police said that they produced the accused before a local court, which sent him to judicial custody. Policemen are also checking if Abhishek had any previous record of any such crime.

The New Indian’s called up the owners of Looks Unisex Salon but could not get any response. Owner Sunjay Dutta of the chain said that he was not aware of the incident as he was abroad.
