JAMMU: Security forces in Jammu region have averted major terror plan of the Pakistan-based LeT/TRF terror outfit by recovering a huge cache of arms and ammunition that included remote controlled Improvised Explosive Devices.
The weapons were recovered some time after Border Security Force opened fire Drone in RS Pura and Arina Sectors of Jammu. “Drone movement was observed near RS Pura, Arnia sectors of the International Border area. The drone returned after the BSF fired 10 to 20 rounds,” BSF said.
Police said recovery included three remote controlled Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), six grenades and a pistol besides other ammunition in RS Pora area of Jammu.
Police said on the basis of input regarding drone activity and dropping of arms and ammunition by Pak-based terrorist outfits LeT/TRF on the behest of Pak agency ISI in RS Pura Arnia area, special search operation was launched by police including Special Operation Group.
During the search operation, police said three boxes of the arms and ammunition which were dropped through a drone during night hours were recovered by the search party from Treva village of Arnia, R S Pura.
The arms, ammunition and explosives recovered during search operation in the arena area, police said include three remote controlled IED, as many detonators, 3 explosive bottles, one bundle of Cordtex wire, two timer of IEDs, one pistol, its two magazines, six grenades and 70 rounds.
“Dropping of this huge arms and explosive depicts a major terror plan of the Pak-based LeT/TRF terror outfit,” said a senior police officer, adding, “With the recovery of the this huge consignment of arms and explosive, a major terror plot have been averted by the alert troops and J&K police.”
Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Chandan Kohli said that a case vide FIR no. 12/2022 under relevant section and laws has been registered in police station Arnia and further investigations in the instant case are underway.
Earlier BSF said: Senior officer in security establishment told The New Indian that terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir are facing a shortage of weapons and terror outfits from Pakistan have started sending weapons and cash via drones.
“Pakistan-based terrorist outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) are behind the dropping of arms, IEDs and narcotics by drones in Jammu and Kashmir,” said a senior security forces officer adding that the terrorism is getting defeated and has been rejected by the peace loving people of J&K. “J&K UT ushers in peace and development since nullification,” the officer added.
The officer said counter-terror operations have further been speeded up to wipe out terrorism, while efforts are on to further strengthen security arrangements to counter the threat posed by the drones.
“Drones is one of the threat and they are being used by anti-national elements, terrorists, to drop weapons and IEDs and we have taken counter steps to defeat their designs,” said a senior officer of J&K Police.
