NEW DELHI: In a bid to engage with the residents of Delhi and garner support for the upcoming elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has kicked off its signature campaign, “Main bhi Kejriwal.”
Delhi Education Minister Atishi, as part of the ongoing campaign, reached Govindpuri’s gali number 4 area in the national capital. The focus was on soliciting public views on the recent allegations against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and whether, in the event of legal troubles, he should resign or continue leading the government from jail.
Residents of Govindpuri, such as Anjali, have expressed gratitude for the transformation of their streets. Anjali shared with The New Indian, “We used to order water tankers every day, but now we have 24-hour access to tap water.” This sentiment echoes the tangible improvements brought about by the AAP government, resonating with the party’s commitment to infrastructure development.

Pamphlets distributed during the campaign posed crucial questions to the public, addressing issues such as the veracity of the liquor scam case, the BJP’s stance against CM Kejriwal, and the public’s perception of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to fighting corruption. Atishi, in her interactions with residents, noted down their opinions and contact details, ensuring a grassroots connection.
While speaking to The New Indian, Atishi dismissed the allegations against Kejriwal as “baseless”. She said, “The BJP is making baseless accusations solely because they believe that the people of Delhi, when casting their votes, will support Arvind Kejriwal’s party. They are trying to sabotage the AAP government through deceptive tactics.”
The party is seeking to turn the ED’s summons to Kejriwal, which the CM has raised legal questions about, and refused to appear before the agency, into an occasion to carry out a public outreach campaign through which it would try to prove that the ED is working under pressure from the BJP to target the AAP leader because it is scared of his popularity.
Local voices, like Guddo and Indrabala, who own a shop in Govindpuri, attested to the positive impact of AAP’s governance. “AAP has provided multiple facilities to us. Bus rides are free for women. All the charges against Kejriwal are baseless; there is no truth in them,” they affirmed.
The AAP’s extensive outreach involves ministers, lawmakers, councilors, and party officials visiting households in 250 wards across Delhi. Through door-to-door surveys and documented responses, the party seeks to gauge public sentiment on corruption charges against Kejriwal and his governance amid legal challenges.

The united voices of the public confirms their belief in us, they are with AAP,” she shared.
As the “Main Bhi Kejriwal” campaign unfolds until December 20, the AAP plans to cover all 2,600 polling stations in Delhi. Lawmakers and councilors will further engage in public dialogues from December 21 to 24, fostering direct interaction with residents in all 250 wards.
