TMC MP Mahua Moitra’s recent comments have sparked controversy as she referred to Vikas Dubey, a notorious Indian criminal, as a “gentleman”. Dubey, a history-sheeter and gangster-turned-politician from Kanpur, was accused of heinous crimes, including the murder of eight police officers and a state minister.
Dubey had a long criminal record, with prosecutors initiating the first criminal case against him in the early 1990s. By 2020, he had over 60 criminal cases filed against him.
