Raj Thackeray’s son, Amit Thackeray, currently stands in third place, making this a high-profile contest in this prestigious Mumbai seat.

The constituency, which includes Shivaji Park, has a diverse electorate comprising upper-class Maharashtrians and minority communities.
The MNS won 13 Assembly seats out of 288 in the 2009 elections when it contested the Maharashtra Assembly polls for the first time. However, the party’s fortunes have declined significantly over the years, securing only one seat in the 2019 elections. While the MNS supported the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the Lok Sabha polls earlier this year, it is contesting the Maharashtra Assembly elections independently.
Mahim has long been a stronghold of Shiv Sena. In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Sada Sarvankar won from Mahim as a Shiv Sena candidate, securing a significant margin over his competitors. Sarvankar, who has been associated with the Shiv Sena for decades, is now aligned with the Eknath Shinde faction.
In an exclusive conversation with The New Indian, Sarvankar expressed confidence in his victory, stating, “All the young opponents are kids compared to me. My experience will help me win.” However, current trends suggest otherwise. With 20 rounds of counting expected, this high-profile constituency remains a focal point in Maharashtra’s 2024 Assembly elections.
Meanwhile, the NDA-led Mahayuti alliance is leading with over 221 seats in the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly, according to the Election Commission of India.
Counting votes for the Maharashtra Assembly elections began at 8 AM on Saturday, November 23. From the Mahayuti alliance, the BJP contested 149 Assembly seats, Shiv Sena 81 seats, and the NCP fielded candidates in 59 constituencies. In the opposition combine, Congress fielded 101 candidates, Shiv Sena (UBT) 95, and NCP (SP) fielded 86 candidates.
